⚠ How to reference — read before posting

Submissions without proper referencing won't be published. This isn't fussiness — it's how we keep the corner honest. Follow all three:

  1. Numbered references. Mark each claim with a number in the text, like …the dynasty fractured after 1415.¹ and match it to a numbered note.
  2. In-text quotation. When you lean on an author, quote their actual words: Cerulli writes that "…" — don't paraphrase and present it as theirs.
  3. Full bibliography. Every source needs: Author name · Book name · Date · Page number.
Example — in text:
The coast functioned as a node of exchange, not a colonial endpoint.¹ As Cerulli observed, "the chronicle is silent on the dates of migration".²

Example — bibliography:
1. Lewis, I.M. · A Pastoral Democracy · 1961 · p.142.
2. Cerulli, E. · Somalia: Scritti Vari Editi ed Inediti · 1957 · p.233.

Submissions are reviewed before publishing. Missing references will be sent back.
